CFPB Schools FAFSA (SFAS) for $5.2 Million
The CFPB is requiring restitution of $5.2 million in its complaint and proposed consent against Student Financial Aid Services, Inc. (more recently known as FAFSA) for illegal sales and billing practices. Allegations include the concern that the company lured in consumers with misleading information about costs for services and charging undisclosed and unauthorized automatic recurring charges.
